With the ski season upon us we thought we’d let you know why Meribel is our favourite place to go and escape in the French Alps.

Meribel site in the middle of the worlds largest connected ski area. The Three Valleys comprises eight resorts including; Courchevel, La Tania, Meribel, Brides-les-Bains, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Saint-Matrin-de-Belleville and Orelle. All together they create a ski area with more than 600km of marked pistes to explore and more than enough off-piste to cater for the powder hounds too.

Here is five things that we feel make Meribel a perfect mountain getaway.

One – For families, for party goers, for everyone

Meribel literally has something for everyone. From families with young kids to the aprés animals, all can have a great time in Meribel. A great number of family friendly restaurants and dedicated kids club makes it a fantastic place to escape as a family. A selection of bars and clubs cater for those wishing to have get their party on, from the casual aprés bar to the table-top dancing of the Folie Douce – there really is something for everyone.

Two – Skiing and boarding for all levels

From the nursery slopes and cruise-able blues above Meribel Village to the incredible reds at Mont Vallon and the leg testing blacks of The Face and Bosses, Meribel has something for every level of skill. But if this wasn’t enough to satisfy your slope riding needs, then it is incredibly easy to reach either Courchevel or Val Thorens hanks to Meribel being in the middle of the Three Valleys – meaning there is an even greater expanse of slopes to explore.

Three – There is more than just snowsports on offer

Alongside the outdoor sports, Meribel offers a tantalising array of indoor activities if the cold gets too much. You can treat yourself to spa treatments at the Parc Olympic neat the centre, take you and your friends bowling, or even take in one of the latest blockbuster films at the cinema.

Four – Fantastic accommodation and all price points

If you’re looking for a luxury chalet stay, complete with your own chef and chalet staff then Meribel has it for you. Equally, if you’re on a budget and just want to take in as much of the mountain as possible then there are plenty of low cost apartments around town. Something in between? Meribel has that too.

Five – World class coaching wherever you are

Another great aspect to Meribel is that it is a hub for great ski and snowboard tuition. Want to get the kids going on their first few days on the hill? Sure. Need some more in-depth knowledge for heading off piste? You can have that too. Our personal recommendation is Parallel Lines, based in the heart of Meribel they can cater for all levels in one place.
