Team GB skier James Woods has won the Gold in the Big Air World Championships.
Watch his wining run here.
‘Woodsy’ took the ski slopestyle title despite strong wind conditions that caused issues for all competitors and even forced the cancellation of a number of other events.
During the final set of runs the wind conditions continued to cause issues, with just two other competitors able to improve on their previous round scores. This left James in the gold medal position ahead of Norway’s Birk Ruud.
It is the first time Woods has won gold at the slopestyle World Championship, last standing on the podium in 2017 where he gained the bronze medal.
James’ coach Pat Sharples had this say:
“The last couple of days have been incredibly tough. The conditions have been really difficult due to heavy snowfall and high winds, but all the athletes, support staff, coaches and event staff have done their best to make the event happen.”
Congratulations to James and the team in this great win!
