Eno Hammock review

We have been lucky enough to test out the DoubleNest hammock by ENO (Eagle Nest Outfitters). They are a USA based brand who create high quality hammocks and accessories made of top of the range materials.

A little bit about ENO

In the summer of 1999, Eagles Nest Outfitters was founded as a result of big dream, hard work, and a passion for adventure and travel. ENO began as a small operation in Florida with a big plan to travel the East Coast in a ramshackle minivan and sell hammocks at music festivals and community gatherings along the way.

In a short time,  with more business than could be handled from the van, and weary from a life on the road, roots were laid down in Asheville, NC. Here, ENO grew into what is now to the industry’s leading provider of ingeniously crafted parachute hammocks.

Today, ENO continues to offer the highest quality relaxation products for adventure travelers and outdoor lovers  across the globe.

First Impression

On the first impression the DoubleNest ENO hammock was so easy to put up, it took less than 5 minutes with 2 people, using the extra ENO tree friendly straps. Once up we think it’s great to test it out and see if you have it at your perfect height and make sure that the hammock material isn’t under too much strain. It should be even each side in terms of weight distribution. If you are not sure see the video below from ENO hammocks for a step by step instruction.

We also love the fact that the hammock packs up nicely into a bag that is attached to the hammock itself so you will never loose it. It also comes with 2 carabiners attached to each end of the hammock. It is super portable and fit into our backpack nicely alongside other items, such as a camera, small tripod and water bottle. Looking online it seems that there are a large variety of colours to suit everyone’s need for those who are looking for all of those added extras look no further as ENO also has everything for your hammock needs from under-quilts, blankets, hammock stands, shelter systems and bug protection plus more! ENO also kindly sent us the Eclipse lantern which is covered below.

We are looking forward to taking ours on Canadian adventures in June! The tree saver straps also pack into a small bag, which is great to keep them together.

What the hammock is made from

The ENO doublenest hammock is made from high quality 70D High Tenacity Nylon Taffeta which is similar if not the same as what modern parachutes are created from which gives it that strength. This material is also breathable which as ENO says “lends to a cool, comfortable hammock experience”

Room for two?

The ENO DoubleNest hammock was great for 2 people in sitting position like peas in a pod, although a little snug lying down together so we suggest if you to use these overnight it would be great to get a double for a single person so you have all of that extra snug space!

“The DoubleNest reigns supreme.

It’s our bread-and-butter. It’s your all-access pass to relaxation. Big enough for two and palatial for one, the DoubleNest still manages to stuff easily into its attached compression sack. Take it anywhere, set it up in seconds flat, lay back and Oh, did you want to join me? I’ve got room for one more! “

ENO Atlas Chroma – tree saver straps

These are wide straps made out of nylon/polyester webbing that go around the tree to minimise girdling and damage to the bark and cambium layer, which can cause wood tissue death.

The same Titan-inspired suspension system as the best-selling Atlas but with colour two-tone weaving.

Agile but enduring, it boasts a whopping 30 combined adjustment points. Constructed from Poly-filament webbing with overlapping attachment whorls, the Atlas Chroma Strap is the ultimate in hammock suspension.

Eclipse lantern

Such an awesome added extra which really sets the outdoor mood. It has various settings with 3 bright white light settings and an alternative mood lighting setting. This is perfect for use as a main light in a tent or outside and great to turn on when you want to create a lovely chilled out atmosphere.

Conclusion

Overall we really love this hammock. It has many pros to it which include portability, strength, quick assembly and it feels like it would last a lifetime! It would definitely be a hammock that you could pack into your everyday adventure as well as to a longer expedition as it would be extra comfy with a pillow and a cosy blanket. For two people it holds the weight successfully but we would recommend  that in order to get a good nights sleep in one to invest in a double for yourself.

While the price is not steep compared to other brands, we still think that you would have to see this hammock as an investment and you would definitely need to get the added straps with it. You can see that ENO hammocks truly care a lot about what they do and the environment so they create products that are both tree and nature friendly. Each product is tested to the limit, which is why ENO hammocks are such a high quality product that will last you a lifetime.

ENO is now popping up in the UK so look out for it in various retailers. If you can’t wait too long check out their website!
